Who let the Dog out?

Sunday, September 17, 2006

Recently as many of you I'm sure already know, Dog the Bounty Hunter was let out of prison for jumping bail in Mexico. It's a long story but here is the synopsis: he and his bounty hunter posse tracked down a guy who fled to Mexico who was convicted of 3 charges of rape. And so Dog and his bounty hunter entourage found the guy and arrested him but Mexico didn't like the fact that they caught this guy in Mexico and basically called it kidnapping. And so they arrested Dog and his posse.

The reason I bring up Dog now is because his show rocks. It's on A&E and they were running a marathon today of the Dog the Bounty Hunter shows to promote his release. He is what I aspire to be as a man: dangerous, deadly, and deeply committed to justice. Yet he is also compassionate, caring, and a christian who cusses when it's necessary.

Are you dangerous?

I saw that show when visiting my aunt in Hawaii. It was certianly interesting, not enough to get me to purchase a TV... but interesting non-the-less.

Side note:
You wish your teeth were as sexy as Ewen's.

I don't know.... Being dangerous and Christlike, of course, are noble aspirations. But vigilantism, no matter how cool it is (viz a viz The Boondock Saints or V for Vendetta), always unsettles me a bit.

"Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.' To the contrary, 'if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.' Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." - Romans 12:17-21 (ESV)

However, the rub in this question comes when you're not avenging yourself but someone else. Could it be that God could repay wrong done to you through the violence of an ally? But then there's also this passage in the next chapter:

"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer." - Romans 13:1-4 (ESV)

Hmm... I guess I took a bit of a different take on this topic. I'm sure "the Dog's" show is cool. But not as cool as the title of your post. ;)

I must agree with AJ, the title of the post is most definitely one of the coolest attributes of this piece. (Titles always seem to take up the most of my time, sometimes even more than the piece itself.) I've never seen the show myself, but I believe that my brother enjoys it quite a bit.

And I'm sure that when you say, "a christian who cusses when it's necessary," that means in a falsetto, right? lol :)
