Have you gone to the Gym lately?
Friday, September 01, 2006
If you've been wondering why I've been going to the gym so much lately...(I'm the one on the left).
***
And since we are on the topic of exercise, below are a few of my recommendations if you want to set up an exercise routine that is realistic and not too difficult to fit in an already busy schedule. Exercise has long been viewed as an essential part of living a balanced life, going back to both Plato, Aristotle and even the Bible. They all suggest that physical training is of some value. It helps with stress, makes you sleep better at night and gives you more energy during the day.
If you can give up T.V. or the Internet for 20 minutes a day you can get in a good workout.
4 Simple Tips to Start a Smart Workout Plan:
- Go often, do short sessions, but be intense: Go to the gym more often but for shorter periods of time (Shoot for anywhere from 3-6 days a week at about 20 to 45 minutes each time). If you go to the gym for more than an hour during any one session, then you are wasting your time because you can't work out as hard after extended periods of time.
- Go to the Gym even if you are sleepy: In the long run working out will give you energy that no amount of sleep can give you.
- Alternate doing cardio with weight lifting on different days, this way it keeps it interesting and you save your energy to get better workouts.
- Give yourself grace: if you miss a gym session or don't work out very hard during a session, don't give up just keep going to the gym and you will form a habit. Once you have formed the habit you will eventually have the energy to challenge yourself to workout harder during individual sessions. The main thing is just going and setting up the pattern!
And have fun!

If they'd add a few dogs, you could say their workout was going to the dogs.
Going now to put a leash on my Tank and let him walk me around the trails.

Are you sure thats you? I certianly can't imagine you wearing those clothes. Also F. has the pictures you gave to me so long ago. They have been in his car ever since we all ate at Cedar Creek. Please remind him to give them to you. Sorry you still don't have them back.

Btw, I am not saying that I am the master of physical fitness but rather this how I enjoy working out and I thought you might want to hear about it.
Also, initially I just posted the video and then decided to write about working out because I enjoy it so much, its just fun to challenge yourself like that - you put on the ipod and then you get dangerous.
